Puberty & Menstrual Hygiene for School Girls
2016-09-15

In 2016, Sanita Private Miss Teen® brand teams partnered with schools to deliver our Puberty & Menstrual Hygiene Education program in around 345 schools across Lebanon.

The program coincides with UN SDG3 (Target 3.7) calling for the availability of sexual and reproductive healthcare.

Information and education.
Cultural and religious sensitivities affect coverage of reproductive health issues in school curricula in the Middle East. As UNESCO describes, “Too often, the information
is extremely basic or skipped altogether as teachers are unwilling or ill-prepared to discuss these issues in class.”

Failing to acknowledge the need for good menstrual hygiene has been shown detrimental not only to women but also to economies. Health education, in contrast, can influence school drop-out rates, early marriage and pregnancy. Presentations detailed the physical and psychological changes teen girls encounter during puberty, menstrual health, personal hygiene practices, and sanitary products. Students and staff members received feminine sanitary napkin samples.

Sanita develops feminine hygiene products for a range of socio-economic statuses.
